     The above coin reverse alludes to the fact that in 51 AD Nero was
    admitted to four priestly colleges: The Pontifices, THe Augures, The
    Quindecimviri Sacris Faciundis (keepers of the Sibylline books) and
   the Epulones (who supervised religious banquets.) These colleges were
 symbolized by the simpulum, lituus, tripod, and the patera
   respectively. The possesion of these and other offices clearly marked
Nero as the hier to the throne and it is clear evidence of the
relentless ambitions of Agrippina for her son Nero.
